Frequently Asked Questions
A Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) is a healthcare professional who has completed accredited massage-therapy training and is licensed/registered to practice. RMTs assess and treat soft tissues, joints and nervous-system components using evidence-informed techniques. In Langford, if you search “RMT Langford” or “massage therapist Langford,” you’ll find qualified practitioners like those at Van Isle Wellness who meet professional standards and are eligible for insurance direct-billing.
Massage therapy can help treat a wide range of conditions—such as back pain, neck pain, shoulder/upper-back issues, hip/pelvis discomfort, headaches, postural imbalances, surgery recovery, prenatal discomfort, fibromyalgia, stress/anxiety and more (see our ‘Conditions We Treat’ list above). It’s also effective as part of a preventative wellness plan.
Absolutely. For many people experiencing back pain, therapeutic massage from an experienced Langford massage therapist can reduce muscle tension, improve circulation, enhance mobility, release trigger points, reduce neural irritation and support better posture. We’ll work with you to identify the source of your back pain and develop a plan that includes massage therapy plus home-care suggestions.
Yes. Neck pain is very common (especially in desk-based or screen-heavy jobs). Our massage therapists in Langford use techniques to release tight cervical/upper-thoracic musculature, improve joint mobility, relieve tension headaches, and support better alignment—all of which can lead to meaningful relief.
Yes, we do. “Prenatal massage” (also called “pregnancy massage”) is a safe and effective way to ease many of the discomforts associated with pregnancy—such as round-ligament pain, sciatic-type symptoms, swelling, low-back / pelvic pressure and general muscular tension. Our Langford-based RMTs are trained in pregnancy massage protocols to ensure a comfortable, supportive experience for both you and your baby.
The number of sessions depends on your specific condition, how long you’ve had it, your personal goals and how your body responds. For acute pain you might feel significant relief after one or two sessions. For chronic or complex conditions, a short-term program (e.g., 4-6 sessions) may be more effective. Your therapist will discuss a tailored plan with you during your initial assessment.
