Van Isle Wellness (Kari Lund RMT and Chelsea Howard, RMT ) (“we,” "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website www.vanilsewellness.ca, use our services, or interact with us. Please read this policy carefully. By using our website or services, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

BC’s Personal Information Protection Act sets out rules for how organizations collect, use and disclose personal information. 

Personal information as defined by PIPA: “Personal information” is a broadly defined term that includes information that is reasonably capable of identifying a particular individual either alone or when combined with information from other available sources. Some examples of personal information are: name, address, gender, education, income, financial information, medical and genetic information, date of birth, drivers’ license number, photographs or images of an individual, employment history, and product preferences.

We are committed to being accountable for how we handle personal information, as well as how we follow the rules and procedures outlined in this policy.

    • We will always get consent to collect, use, or disclose personal information, except where we are legally authorized or required by law to do so without consent.
    • You will be notified in writing or electronically in regards to the purpose for collecting your personal information.

    • Consent may be implied or expressed, depending on the nature and sensitivity of the personal information.
    • Consent will not be required beyond what is necessary to provide our service.
    • You may withdraw your consent at anytime by giving us reasonable notice, unless withdrawing consent would frustrate our performance of a legal obligation. We will then notify you of the likely consequences of withdrawing consent.

    • We will not collect, use, or disclose personal information except for the identified purposes for collection, unless we have received additional consent or the processing is authorized without consent.
    • We will disclose personal information where authorized by PIPA or required by law.

  • Mobile information: No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-data and consent, this information will not be shared with any third parities.

We will not supply your confidential medical information to any third party without your written consent.  You may withdraw your consent for use and disclosure of your personal information and we will explain the process and possible ramifications.

6. Retention

RMT’s are required by law to retain patient files for 16 years from the date of first visit or following the patients 19th birthday, in the case of a minor, unless the records are transferred to another RMT or licensed health care provide in accordance with the College’s bylaws.

7. Accuracy

  • We will make reasonable arrangements to ensure that the personal information we collect, use or disclose is accurate and complete.
  • You may request that we correct any errors or omissions in your personal information that is under our control.
  • If the request is reasonable we will correct the information.
  • If we are not satisfied that the request for correction is reasonable, we will annotate the information, noting that the correction that was requested was not made.

8. Your Choices

You have the following choices regarding your information:

  • Opt-out of marketing communications: You can unsubscribe from our promotional emails by following the unsubscribe link provided in each email.
  • Cookies: You can manage your cookie preferences through your browser settings or use third-party tools to opt-out of certain tracking technologies.
  • Emails/Texts: You may request we not contact you via email or text by providing a written request to terminate communication.

There may be a minimal fee for providing this information which will require payment before information is released. This fee will be provided via a written estimate. This information will be provided to you within 30 days following the request unless we are required to refuse access in which case you will be notified via writing with further steps outlined.
  • Correction: You can request corrections to any inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Opt-out of processing: In some cases, you may have the right to object to or restrict the processing of your personal information.
